This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Today's praise

Praise the Lord!  Seth's oxygen setting is down to low 50's-55% today!  And his carbon dioxide level is in the high 40%'s, which is normal!

I shouldn't say that we are surprised, because we know our God and the power of prayer as well-- a significant answer like this should not be a surprise.  But, oh, we are thankful!  Thankful to God, to all of you who are praying-- hundreds of whom we have not met, and many of whom we likely never will on this side of Heaven.

God is doing an amazing thing: through His mighty power, through the doctors, nurses, and medicine. They are continuing to wean his ventilator settings down as the blood gas reports come back at the correct levels. Please pray that the weaning can continue smoothly. The medical staff need so much wisdom!

We know that this may be just one high in amongst many past and future lows, but God be praised nonetheless.  I am reminded of Job, when his wife encouraged him to forsake God and curse Him for the suffering Job was enduring.  "You talk like a foolish woman.  Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?"  We know He works in ALL things for His glory and our good, according to His promise in Romans 8:28. We are thankful today to be accepting good news and healing from the Hand of God.

Grace is constipated today, so they have stopped her feeds until that sorts out.  She has had a few bronco spasms, but they are hopeful that this and some other symptoms will likely go away after the surgery.

David continues to be doing very well, with no additional signs of the NEC at all. He remains on antibiotics and tummy rest.

Will and Marcie Jane are doing great. Marcie's up to 2 lbs 11.4 oz, so thank you for praying for weight gain - another big answer to prayer!

Love to all of you!

Gavin

  5. Psalms 77:11-20 says, "I will remember the deeds of the LORD. I will remember your ancient miracles. I will reflect on all your actions and think about what you have done. O God, your ways are holy! What god is as great as our God?"

Praises could never be enough to hear this wonderful news! My heart just bursts for you all...and for the babies. Thank you Father, thank you....prayers will continue!

  7. Oh, YES, Praise Our Dear Lord!
I pray for the babies all the time; and yesterday after the short update, my prayers became pleading. I just knew little Seth is so spunky that God would answer all of our prayers in the way we wanted.
Little guy is certainly ready to be rid of that ventilator and to be in your arms.
    Love to all of you

  11. Praise God for the improvement! It was a privilege to join others in prayer last night for your precious family. We will continue to intercede for you all to have peace daily, and for the doctors to have exceptional wisdom as they treat each child. Thank you for the explanation and diagram of what is happening. We non-medical people need simplified terms! Really glad to hear about Isaac having better days at school. He is a terrific little boy!

  12. Praise the Lord. Several times during the night when I would wake up and off and on during today I have been especially praying for Seth and David but I do pray for all of them. Its almost as if they are our own children as we plead to the Lord for their healing, etc. God be praised.

  15. So HAPPY! I have been praying for little Seth and thinking of what an amazing testimony it would be for God to heal him, but even more so for you to proclaim His Sovereignty in the highs and lows. Wow. I am so encouraged by what God is doing in Seth's life AND in yours.

  16. I'm one you will never meet until we stand around the throne of God. But I'm praying, and asked one of my friends to join with me when the earlier reports for Seth were not as good. Your posts often bring me to the point of tears. May God continue to be praised.
