This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

PICC line is in!

The nurse practitioner just called to say that they were able to successfully put the PICC line into David!  We are very thankful.

They are trying to wean Seth down off the oscillator ventilator from a mean pressure setting of 15 to 12 or less.  The ventilator that is a step down (and preferable) from the oscillator can only go up to 12, so once he is able to do well at 12 on the current one, they'll switch him.  That will be better for his lungs and allow him to start practicing breathing on his own.

Grace is doing fine, but not recovering as quickly as they hoped she would.  She is needing a bit more help from the respirator.  She has some junk in her throat that they are checking for infection, which we really pray against.  They were hoping to start her on feeds again tonight, but that depends on whether they hear stomach sounds or not and whether they have to start her on antibiotics.

Will is puffy.  He's got a lot of fluid to lose, but is doing well.

Marcie is doing fine, too.

Isaac had a good day at school and is spending the night and all tomorrow with a good friend.  Thanks, Schlenkers!

Gavin

  1. My hubby is at UT on the 4th floor and I went walking some today and went up to the waiting room a couple of times today to see if yall might be around. Then I had to go to the gift shop to look around they have lots of cute stuff. Just know that I am praying for those sweet little babies and standing in agreement that the babies are being healed and covered in the blood of Jesus. I am also happy that Issac is going to get him some good friend time this weekend and it should be a perfect weekend for playing outside. Have a great weekend!

  6. Happy for yesterday's victories. May today bring more of them wrapped in God's loving and abundant grace, strength, mercy and endurance. I agree with "Just Me" (see above reply) that you need to take care of yourselves also.
