This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Good news!

Will, David and Marcie (the first three babies to be pulled from the womb) are now off the ventilators and on the CPAP instead! They are also receiving little feeds, and I'm so grateful to God for His work in my body that I can already provide for them. The first milk is so beneficial, especially when it's from their own mommy.

The NICU staff estimate Seth will be able to join in on the CPAP and feeding fun either tomorrow or the next day. Right now both he and Gracie are getting some blood pressure medication (very normal because they were the last two out), but the last time I was in the NICU Gracie's nurse told me they were able to decrease the dose because she was already doing better. As the tiniest one and very last one out, we deeply appreciate your prayers for her (and the other four, too, of course!). The first 72 hours are the most critical.

The clinical coordinator for the NICU just came in again, saying they are all doing so well and that "Everything went perfect today." The doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists, and everyone else on the Code 5 team were amazing. All glory to God for His care and provision!

With so much gratitude and joy,
The Mommy

  2. I've been praying for you in the past week or so since "meeting" you through Esther Gross's FB account. I'm rejoicing with you. Being a nurse, all I could think of were all of the "what ifs." But God... Praising Him with you for all He has done for you and your family today.

  8. Wow!!! We're so happy for you!!!

It's amazing that three of your babies have already moved from the vent to the CPAP machine. Even though you can see less of their faces, it's a huge, positive step!! (It took me awhile to get used to the sound of the pressurized air blowing through the tubes into their nostrils, but it soon became one of the special background noises.) And if they're decreasing the blood pressure meds already...another amazing blessing!!! May God continue to glorify Himself through you and your entire family. God has richly blessed you all and will never, ever leave you or forsake you (Heb 13:5). He is with you and knows the steps He has ordained for each of your precious children--Isaac included (Psalm 139:16)!

Blessings to your family from ours,
Nicole (for Tim and the twins)

  23. Carrie and Gavin and Isaac, We are all so happy for you as you are still welcoming the miracle quints into your world. We do so wish the Pattersons, Sheets and the soon to be Smiths could all come visit all of you. Of course we really wouldn't do that at this point in your busy lives, but you know what I mean. We are praying for you, Carrie, as you recover and as you continue to nurse those sweet little ones. We are so proud of you and are grateful to our Father for His loving care of you, the quints and Isaac and Gavin. Love to Jane, Neal, Katy and Ken and of course, Auntie Pam and everyone else who was/is there to help.

With love to all of you,

Mary Alice (at Betsy or Jeannie's) and Jim (in Indonesia, but joining us in late August for Jeannie and Troy's wedding.)

  26. I found out about your precious 5 babies from Kat at Momentum. I am praying for you all and grateful that they are all doing well. Praise God!

My cousin and his wife have triplet sons who were born at 25 1/2 weeks, so I understand how important these first few days of life are for such tiny babies. I was living in Japan when they were born, so I didn't get to see them when they were babies. (I had one of my sons 6 months after they were born.) They were over 18 months old when I moved back to the U.S. They are 13 years old now. :o)

  27. I wouldn't allow myself to turn on the computer today until I had finished yesterdays to do list as all I did was watch the blog sight all day.
I am so thankful for those precious little ones. The whole experience is so very wonderful. These are going to be Godly men and women for Him.

Congratulations Carrie! I am so excited and happy for you and your husband on the safe delivery of 5 beautiful & healthy babies! Your mom told me about your quints and I have enjoyed following your story as a multiple myself. It has given me a little taste of my mom's experience carrying us. :) I will be praying for your little ones and your family as you adjust in the coming days; healing for all, miraculous growth for those precious babies, smooth & joyful transition to a family of 8 and above all God's grace & glory in your lives. Love to you, Lori
