Hi all,
Well, the cultures all came back negative for respiratory viruses and bacteria, and Seth is back down to only 1/2 liter of oxygenated air. Turns out we were right when we thought his breathing difficulties (retractions, faster breathing, head bobbing with each breath) were due to his tummy being upset - which at first we thought was due to his new formula, then we thought it was due to the Prevacid overdose. So we've gone from this being a suspected respiratory infection to a gastrointestinal issue, the real cause of which we don't yet know. He's not digesting his food and he seems very dry-mouthed/lipped and hasn't cried any real tears despite crying for nearly 4 hours straight this morning. He is currently off of food for an hour to rest his tummy, then will restart at less than half the usual volume and see if they can slowly increase and watch how he tolerates it. They will also start IV fluids if needed. I am currently waiting to see the GI doc.
Thanks for your prayers and for all the ways in which you help and bless us! One specific prayer request would be that the babies at home would sleep better. They got up about every hour last night - only one at a time, of course, but couldn't be ignored lest they awaken the others. (Sorry, Deb.)
Love and gratitude,
Carrie
This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

ReplyDeleteLord Please give the babies at home your peace, hold they in your arms and comfort them until everyone is home again....and continue Almighty Father to be with Seth and heal his stomach problems,,and give Gavin and Carrie you Loving Peace...Amen
ReplyDeleteDear Father, bless this precious family and continue to hold them all in your hand. Lord, help them through this difficult time and give them reassurance of your love to them. Amen!
ReplyDeleteLord God, Seth needs your healing hand. Give the doctors knowledge and wisdom as they find the best ways to make him comfortable and healthy. Be with Carrie and Gavin as they continue this part of the journey. Give peace and restful sleep to Will, David, Marcie, and Grace. Let their life patterns include sleep at night. God continue to enfold the entire family in your loving presence. Let them feel your love and ours as we continue to lift them up! Amen.
ReplyDeletePraying for each one of you! The quints at home probably realize that one of their buddies is missing...I know that happened to twins when one had to go to the hospital and the other one was crying all the time at home...siblings intuition I guess you can call it! The parents were sure grateful when the got them home together and said everything went back to normal. Love and prayers!
