This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Seth worsening, with collapsing lung
Carrie & Seth are headed to Children's Medical Center in Dallas as I write this. At Seth's pulmonology appointment this afternoon, his doctor found his left lung to be partially collapsed. The plan is to admit him & treat him for pneumonia, adjust his meds...and pray. (I added the last, but know the doctor would heartily agree.) The pulmonologist says Seth is worse than when hospitalized 3 weeks ago. Gavin is in Australia in his long journey home from Papua New Guinea & is scheduled to arrive in Dallas late tomorrow (Thurs) night. I am leaving this weekend for 9 days overseas. Please pray for all of us, including the other babies and Isaac, and for our wonderful volunteers. His strength is perfected in our weakness; He does all things well. Warm regards & many, many thanks from The Quintessential Grandma.

ReplyDeleteMidnight Update: After a poke or two, Seth now has his IV started and is doing his first round of antibiotics. They took a blood sample to make sure kidney and liver functions are doing well also. It took him quite a while to fall asleep and of course had just done so when the IV team came! But he went right back to sleep and looks very peaceful now. I've been able to bolus in 8 ounces of formula to get him caught up on food he missed all day and now his formula is running continuously. We should only need to be disturbed around 3 and then again at 7 for breathing treatments.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the prayers!
Nanny Sam :)
Thank you Sam, been praying at will when I woke up last night...good to hear he's resting and getting nourishment. Hope you are feeling better too, you've been in those prayers as well!

ReplyDeleteFather, please hear our prayers and heal little Seth's lungs so that he might quickly come home. And please be with the other babies that they might get over their colds and not give it back to Seth. We lift up Carrie and Sam and all the caregivers, please give them strength and patience, and bless them for their service. And keep everyone safe in their travels. Thank you for your love, mercy and grace; all honor and glory to You, Lord. Amen. NKL
