This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

NICU reunion

A week ago today was our babies' first NICU reunion. What a blessing to get to see some of our favorite nurses, respiratory therapists, and feeding therapist! The most moving part was the medical director seeing Seth again. He was just amazed at how well all the kids are doing, but he asked to hold Seth in particular. Seth readily went to him, and he said, "We almost lost you," and started shaking with tears! Seth just laid his head on his shoulder and cozied in while the big man cried for at least a minute - and the rest of us got plenty tearful, too! Thank you, God, for your mercy to all of us and to Seth in particular. His eating and running around with the other kids are things we can never take for granted.

By the way, Seth and David both started doing the motions for "Where is Thumpkin?" with me today. All the kids do "Wheels on the Bus" round-and-round motions, and Will and David especially like to sing "E-I-E-I" for Old MacDonald. They usually don't include the "O." :)

Marcie patted the girl bunny. Will tackled the boy bunny.
Marcie and Gracie both patting so frantically their hands and arms are a blur! Our good friend, volunteer, NICU nurse and Preemie Party coordinator Frances is in the background. She still helps with the Quints from time to time!

Miss Lynn went with us, and boy did we need the extra pair of hands!
Marcie insisted on wearing the bunny ears but had to give them back eventually.

Will with his bunny (funny how the boy picked out the boy bunny and the girl chose the girl bunny!)

  2. Wonderful! Love to learn how your beautiful miracles continue to grow up. They are by far the most awesome set of babies. I know I am in the tone since my grandchild is now seven weeks old and I personally have four kids beside my PhD. Love love children! All the best from Finland - once again. :)
