This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Slide show of the Quints; news

Quick update on Seth: He seems to be sailing through the critical period of the nitric oxide discontinuation, praise God. He hasn't had any rebound or other negative effects. Thank you for praying! He no longer has pulmonary hypertension but he still has very damaged lungs. They have been able to wean his machine settings a tiny bit but not the amount of oxygen he's receiving. The progress is slower than they had anticipated or hoped, and the doctor said yesterday, "He's still very sick." They are considering using steroids again but are debating the pros and cons. So thank you for continuing to pray both for Seth and for wisdom for the medical staff.

Will is 7 pounds even now! Seth is 5 lb 12.8 oz, David is 5 lb 5.5 oz, as is Marcie, and Gracie is 4 lb 5 oz. Marcie is on only very minimal airflow, as is Will, and Gracie is needing more airflow. Please pray her lungs continue to heal and she continues to grow.

Marcie nursed for the first time today and did super great, just like her brothers! It was really special for me to get to nurse all three in one night. :)

We found out today that Marcie has the same genetic mutation as Seth and that David does not have the mutation; still awaiting results on Will and Gracie. I am encouraged that maybe this means Seth has just plain old bad lungs that he can outgrow, unless he's more affected for some reason by the genetic mutation. Perhaps it's a "variant" rather than a "mutation," according to one specialist; he says 2% of people of European descent have it on one gene like Marcie and Seth!

This is the slideshow that I put together for the shower at our church on Sunday. Thank you to everyone who was able to come and for all the generous gifts!!! We are so honored by your love and concern for the babies. I personally don't like going out on Sunday nights (unless it's a shower for my babies, ha, ha!), so I was really impressed at how many of you all sacrificed and did that for us. :)

Love and gratitude to you all,
Carrie

  3. Your family is just beautiful. You are a testament of God's love. I will continue to pray for all of you. I pray for healing for Seth and for Marcie, continued growth for all of the babies, especially Gracie. I also pray for strength and energy for you, Carrie and Gavin, and for love and comfort for Isaac. I praise God for the blessings he has already bestowed upon us through the babies and you, Carrie, Gavin, Issac, and the extended Jones family. Thank you for sharing. I cried through the video, but many of those tears were tears of thanksgiving. You are in my heart every day.

Thank you for taking the time to make the video to share with us and you can tell how much the babies have grown. Prayers will continue for Seth and the others, but I do believe mommy and Seth might have the same color of hair. Prayers for Isaac and him in school and being a big brother. 15. Oh my goodness, what a beautiful testimony of faith. It will mean so much to the babies in the years to come. Such a good idea to have the names on there too! I only have 2 girls - 3 yrs apart - and sometimes I am not sure whose pic I am looking at!
Praying as always for healing and comfort for your precious quints, and strength and support for the whole family.
Thank you for sharing your journey and allowing us to keep you before the throne of grace.

  19. Thank-you SO much for sharing the Beautiful video...I cried too, in thankfulness and Joy, just to know how far the babies have come,,,and the witness of Strength that you two have shown...I cried to because of the connection I have come to have with each baby,,It has been such a Blessing to me to be able to Pray for the Babies and Isaac and the two of you....The second song on the video I have thought of your Family each time I would hear it...and when it came to Seth, I "lost it"...I saw the Love and tenderness of God upon each person and Baby....AND God IS STILL WORKING. for each Baby's needs, and help along the way with Isaac and both of you....It was Wonderful for you to be able to nurse Marcie, Will and David all in one day...It's such a special time between Mother and Baby but that X 3 is amazing and extra special!!! what Joy!!! and we are Praying for the Day when you can nurse Grace AND Seth!!! My Heart and Prayers go out several times a Day For all Especially "little Fighter" Seth..I was ill for about a week last week and in a lot of pain, all I could say was , I offer this Pain up for Seth... also last Friday I received a Call from Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio, where my daughter wants to go to College next year, and they asked If I had any Prayer request and right away I told them about 5 babies that were born at 27+ weeks in Texas,, they had not heard but said the intention will be Prayed for at the University . My our Gracious God Bless Each One of you........From Dayton. Ohio

  21. I echo all the above. The video was awesome. It is true to work to keep names on the pictures. The more I scrapbook, the more I see this the biggest need along with dates. May God continue to bless your family. Judith

  22. I came across this blog quite by accident, just before you gave birth to these amazing babies. I pray for them regularly and KNOW that Gods hand is wrapped around each of these children daily. Thank you for blessing your children with your faithfulness to Him. To God be the glory!!

  23. I too shed tears thru this entire beautiful video that you put together so creatively. I have saved all your blogs. The pictures are so precious to me, as are each one in your very special family. You are bringing glory to God for sure, with how you have handled each crisis with the quints. Our hearts have been so touched by your commitment to the Lord and his healing power. Our prayers continue to be with you all, but we do concentrate on little dear Seth because of his lung problems. May the Lord be with you to give you strength and energy as you care for your dear family. Our prayers will continue too. Love, Raemajean and Bill
