This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

A big praise!

We have stopped feeding Seth by tube during the day a couple of times in the past, only to have to restart at least one or two feeds during his naps in the daytime because he would lose weight. However, for the past week we haven't fed him by tube at all during the day (unless I'm forgetting something) and he's gained half a pound! He's drinking 1-2 ounces at a time using a real suck (vs. just biting the nipple), and he's continuing to eat and enjoy it, demanding food and a bottle or sippy cup along with the other kiddos! As Deb noted yesterday, he's become truly one of the pack, right alongside the other kids in their activities. He took four or five steps last night, and then in my haste to catch him I accidentally stepped on his foot. Oops. Today he was standing on his own, legs spread wide apart for stability, rooting through the toy box for the toys he wanted, but not hanging on at all! It's such fun to watch his progress week by week and even day by day. He continues to surprise his feeding therapist, I think!

Thank you for praying and please continue. I really hope and pray he continues to take surprising strides forward. He's breathing great, thank God!

Also, please keep praying that the babies stay healthy. A very cold freezing rain front has come through our area. Isaac's school is even closed tomorrow due to expected road icing. Needless to say, he's thrilled. :) Here are a couple of pictures of my handsome big boy:

Being a "fountain" with his cousin Levi. Isaac is on the right in goofy glasses.

My two handsome men, ready for Cousin Annelies and Tim's wedding!

  1. Love the fountain! Reminds me of "Three Grrrecian Urns" in The Music Man. Isaac, I love your goofiness!

  2. I can't help but think that being one of the pack has helped Seth with his eating. I have an 18 month old great- niece who goes to a friend of her mom's for daycare. Other than the kids of her mom's friend there are one or two others. She has already started using the potty due to being very interested in what the other kids are doing.
