This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Thank God for vomit!

I have never been so grateful to hear poor baby Seth's heaves as he emptied his tummy tonight. We are SO grateful this is a tummy bug and not a hospital-visit-requiring respiratory infection! He can handle the tummy bug just fine, Lord willing.

Both Seth and Marcie were running 103.4 degree fevers this afternoon, and David was just below 100. They weren't interested in eating, but so far neither of the other two have vomited. They seem more or less okay, albeit somewhat subdued and fussy. Please pray for their comfort, healing, and that none of the rest of us (including helpers!!!) get it. I'd love it if it were the 24-hour tummy bug. Beats two weeks of cold symptoms and a week of hospitalization! :)

By the way, Nanny Sam is leaving for her new life and nursing school on Wednesday. We're having a get-together at our place (a drop-in, hang-out, bring-a-snack-if-you-want-to kind of thing) Sunday from 6-9 in the evening. Those of you in the area are invited to come say goodbye to her! We'll be in the backyard and porch away from the zone of contagion. :}

Love and THANKS for praying!
Carrie

  1. Thank you Father for prayers answered! Happy to hear Seth is just fighting a belly bug....def. the "lesser of 2 evils" so to speak. Hoping and praying the rest don't come down with it. Prayers continue...

  2. Better a tummy bug than a lung bug - but none the less, what a mess!! Praying that it all passes quickly and that the rest of you are spared. And, praising God for Nanny Sam - what a blessing she has been!! Prayful that her nursing school goes well and it is all she hopes it will be and more. God Bless You All. NKL

  3. The first full year was rough for us with colds, etc. (our twins were in daycare and I and they got everything). As for toy sharing, you want to take the toy away--that doesn't mean I feel awful when I do it, especially since it's me vs. the twins at that point). I'm willing to hear other, better strategies!
