This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Ear infection only

Not unexpectedly, shortly after I posted last, Gracie's virus led to a bacterial ear infection and new fever. We started her on antibiotics immediately under the advice of a doc here. (We sincerely thank God we are so close to a medical center with such excellent physicians and medications available!) She was truly miserable while we waited for the drugs to kick in, but now she's a LOT better. This morning she skipped off happily to their Monday playdate with a wave and "Bye-bye, Mom! See you later!" I don't think the other kids even bothered to say goodbye. They just yelled, "Hi!" and "Walter!!!" As Gracie told me the other night, "I love Karen's house. I play toys with Walter."

Seth is acting virtually unaffected by this cold. As with most colds thus far, he and David seem to be the least affected of any of the kids. David has always been the "healthiest" quint. He never needed to be on a ventilator, whereas all the others spent at least a few hours on it (Marcie and Will) or even months (Grace and Seth, as you well know!). I wonder if Seth's 5.5 months in the NICU helped strengthen his immune system? I hope and pray so!

Here's some pictures Karen took of Gracie "modeling" her pink pajamas while she was staying with them while Gavin and were still in Australia. How darling and bold of my sweet little Gracie to ham it up like this for the camera! Clearly she really does love Karen AND her house!

Little goof!

Can prayer be modeled? Gracie is clearly trying. At least she's got the outward appearance of it down! She and Marcie love to hold hands or fold their own hands and "pray" with little low mumbles and loud AMEN's!

  1. Goodness, I had almost forgotten how long little Seth was in the NICU....time has just flown by. He remains in my prayers daily as does your entire family. I feel blessed to have gotten to take this "journey" with you and your beautiful family. I've learned a lot from you by your witnessing your faith in our Lord and Savior and have found my own faith strengthen. Thank you for that....as always, prayers continue and I'm happy to hear they are starting to feel better!
