This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Still alive and WELL in PNG!

Sorry it's been a week-and-a-half since I last posted! Life has been busier than ever, but mostly in a good way. I had a day in bed with illness (tummy bug), and Gavin and I had to make an "emergency" trip to the port city of Lae to help receive our sea freight shipment (there was slight hitch, but all turned out well); otherwise things are going along beautifully if somewhat chaotically. Case in point: Marcie is sitting on the counter where I am typing this while standing, and Seth is clinging to my shirt from behind, standing on a chair and whining to get up on the counter too. Marcie is happily sucking the rest of the ice in my iced coffee. Seth is now barking at the dog. And whining again. The other kids are watching a show on airplanes, which means I have approximately 5 minutes in which to post!!

In the past couple of days we've been happily unpacking part of our shipment. It's SO nice to have our stuff out in our new house! And I got to put really cute new clothes on the girls today. Life is fun with some new stuff that doesn't smell mildewy or old, but I realize it will just be a matter of time before everything reaches that stage - and that's okay, because it's the smell of home! We love it here. (But in the meantime, I'm going to enjoy the "new smell" of our new blanket on our bed.) Thanks to everyone who sent us items from our Amazon.com wish list and who made/bought beautiful things for our babies and for us since even before their birth. It's like receiving your gifts - quilts, blankets, shoes, clothes, toys, etc. - all over again!

We are so, so, so grateful for good health. We have had weeks of no ill health for the babies, and Seth hasn't had any breathing problems at all even though it's been really dry, smokey and dusty. It was so smokey today with all the local burning that Gavin couldn't even see across the Frisbee field at times during his game! When I took my new white towels off the line there was visible ash on them. Oh well.

I'd better go because the kids are falling apart and their poor daddy has his hands more than full.

Thanks and love to all of you who care and pray!
Carrie

P.S. Please keep praying for Gavin's grandma, Murmps, that the Lord would take her peacefully and joyfully home with minimal pain or discomfort if He's willing. Thank God she got to meet her newest great grandson, Eli (our new nephew, Gavin's sister's baby). Also please pray for my poor sick sister who is still vomiting so badly her tummy hurts! She's already into her 3rd trimester.

P.P.S. Thanks for all your comments! I love them! I read them but can't usually take the time to respond. I've had some Internet connectivity problems or this post would have been posted days ago.

This cracks me up because I was a My Little Pony maniac as a kid, and now my boys (and girls) are enjoying them at the Weavers'!

  1. So glad all is well; really enjoy your updates. Was a little worried that the recent volcano was near you (although I don't have the best grasp of geography!). Continued prayers for your family.

  4. I'm wondering if your new nephew, Eli, lives in Newberg, OR? We just moved to McMinnville, OR and are getting settled in. Our oldest son, Dan, lives in Dayton. Gladys
