This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

An explanation

When I post a picture to Facebook, for some reason, the automatic blog post that is generated does not add the comments, so I'm guessing the pictures from a couple days ago may have been a bit disturbing.

I (Gavin) turned 40 on Saturday, so we had a party which we called "Gavin's Geezer Gathering," and asked all the guests to dress as older individuals, how we might see ourselves in 40 more years.  It was a fun time of playing Bingo and having races with walkers and eating lots of food.

I felt Carrie overdid the "oldifying" with her makeup, finding it quite disturbing, but convincing.

While it was just a fun time, it made us think of 2 Corinthians 4:16-18:

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
