This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Very successful surgery!

We just got off the phone with the surgeon and Gracie's surgery went VERY well!  She said that the change in her blood pressure numbers when they pinched off the ductus arteriosis were significant and very positive.  She called it a very "hemodynamically significant" procedure.  Translated: the blood flow before the surgery was quite imbalanced-- too much going to the lungs and too little to the rest of the body.  The lower number of her blood pressure reading actually doubled when they closed the artery off, a very good sign.  She said that there was quite a bit of blood bypassing the body that needed it and going to the lungs, so this should be a very positive change for our little Grace.

Praise God!  And thank you all for bringing her to the Throne with us!  There is, of course, still chance of infection and other issues as she recovers, but we're obviously past the most critical part.

We spent most of the afternoon with Grace before the procedure, since it was about 4 hours later than planned.   Just before the surgical team came, she was wide awake and very alert-- more than we've seen her before.  It was fun to watch her looking around at us and everything else!  Here are a couple pictures.

Gracie is in the top of the gurney with the blanket draped over her-- they transported her about three blocks away to Children's hospital.

Sticking her tongue out for the camera.  She's already got an attitude!

  2. My gosh! She is gorgeous! I can't wait to see thier little faces without the tubes someday. If Isaac is any indication of the cuteness to come...we just won't be able to stand it. Praise the Lord for Gracie's surgery. You are in our thoughts and prayers continuously.

  5. What good news and how encouraging that immediately they can see a difference. God is good and how special that He gave you that sweet time together right before the surgery. Praising Him with you.

  13. Our grandsons are in their mid-20's now and it has been a long time since we have had
children's pictures and art work on display. Now we have the quints pictures all over our kitchen! When visitors come we share the babes stories. Many praying people in our town are also putting in a good word for your family. God bless each and every one of you and all the medical personnel. GOD is good -- all the time.
