This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Precise gestation length
The babies were born at 27 weeks and 5 days, but because they are quints they were more like 27-week preemies than 28 week preemies. I'm just grateful for the additional 5 days, and sure would have chosen to go much longer! But it was obviously completely out of my hands when Will broke his water and got things going really quickly, and God is always sovereign. His plans are perfect, even when I don't understand them. (And praise Him, all five babies are doing better in some way this morning. I will blog tonight, if able.)

Praising and praying!
ReplyDeleteWhat a praise that the Houston Chronicle included your story (very brief) today but had a link to your blog. We in Houston can be added to your prayer team. I have a special place in my heart for you as our son will be on the mission field next year and I am a NICU nurse so love those little bitties! God is good to put us in His family of prayer warriors. Praying for your whole family.
ReplyDeleteI saw your story via WORLD magazine's online news article--first, congratulations on the birth of your little ones, and second, I'll be praying for you and the babies in the NICU! I was encouraged reading back through some of your blog posts, since I'm currently going through a tough pregnancy, although for completely different reasons than you. :) I've had a PICC line and TPN since February, so reading about the PICCs that your babies need was hard; I'll be praying specifically that the lines stay free from infection and don't need to be replaced. Your faith and trust in God is evident in these posts. Thank you for sharing your story with us. God bless!
ReplyDeleteHi, there! Just a note to let you know that you and your sweet family are being prayed for. Our son arrived at 27 weeks and 3 days and was taken care of at St.Pauls... we have many memories of the wonderful staff who took care of *all* of us (not only was our son a preemie, he was also adopted... the staff patiently dealt with many legal issues when it came to our situation). We love them so much that we come back and visit each year at the preemie reunion. Take heart and know that not only does the Lord have you in His hands, He has also placed you and your babies in very capable medical hands. By the time our 72 day stay was up, we had read almost the entire Bible to Eli... it's the perfect way to let them hear you talking to them. Some of the staff would keep up with our readings and sweetly ask what we would be reading to him each day. I will be praying for you and your little ones often!
