Hi all,
Thanks for continuing your prayers for all the babies and for Seth's lungs. They look good on x-ray but he's needing more oxygen again (54 percent tonight) and his carbon dioxide blood level is 2 percent higher. The NICU really is the roller-coaster I was warned it would be. I'm so glad to know God is sovereign. I get a sinking feeling of frustration as it is, but at least I can KNOW the truth, including that so many are praying. Praise God, Seth continues to look and act really healthy. We just pray his little lungs grow and develop (along with his brain, despite his 9 days of powerful steroid). Sounds like he already has some chronic damage in the existing alveoli, so that's why he needs to grow more lung tissue. He's so cute and was so alert today; I'll try to post pictures tomorrow. I got a really cute one of Gracie, too! It was wonderful to be with ALL the babies; tomorrow I hope to hold Marcie (for some reason the Broviac isn't a barrier anymore), David and Will. I got to interact with Seth and Grace more than usual today, which was precious!
Thank you so much for caring and praying, and for bearing with us as the list of people we want to thank grows ever longer. I find I return exhausted from the NICU, and I'm getting up 3 times a night
This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Hi Gavin & Carrie!
ReplyDeleteI was given this link by a blog friend (Makeesha) and wanted to let you know that another Aussie family is praying for you! Like Keesh ... we have 5 kids ... but did do it 1 by 1! I know that God will give you the strength to face what ever is to come ... and we pray that you will feel his loving arms around you ... and give you peace & comfort as you face each hurdle!
With our prayers ...
Gavin & Andrea ... and family! xxx
Thank you so much, Andrea! We love the Byls and SO appreciate the prayer from you all on that side of the world. :) God bless you! Carrie
DeleteSo much love for you guys .... Keep trusting that God loves your kids so much more than you ever could, and that his wonderful plan for their lives doesn't include all ease and perfection. I've been so convicted this last year about how often we pray for our (older) kids' comfort rather than character, but every day God works in their lives is part of his path for them.
ReplyDeletePraying so much for sweet Seth this morning, for healing and comfort, too! :)
I remember how exhausting the days at the nicu and nights up pumping were, you are doing a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteYou're sweet. Thank you! I can tell people are praying strength and peace for me.
DeleteDear Carrie, I think the last thing you need to worry about is thanking people on your ever growing list of those who are praying. If the others are like me, enough thanks would be to know that you are taking care of yourself as best you can in order to take care of those precious babies, Isaac and Gavin. Thanks so much for the updates and know that prayers are going up on your behalf.

Thanks, Gail!
DeleteNo worries about thanks - we just want to help so that you can focus on your little people.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and the little babes!
Thank you, Emma! I know that's true; so meaningful.
DeleteCarrie, I feel it is you we owe the thanks to for sharing this experience with us. Yes, the NICU is a roller coaster. It is often times frustrating and frightening. Then there are those little moments that make it all worth it. I hope you are able to hold Marcie today, that will be one of those little moments. We will continue to pray for your entire family, especially sweet Seth. Please remember to take care of yourself. I know that is difficult during these times, but remember you have to take care of you for you to take care of your family. Thank you again for sharing the updates.
ReplyDeleteCarrie, The thanks we get from you, is to be able to Pray for YOU your FAMILY, AND THE PRECIOUS BABIES. The updates and pictures are thanks also.....For Me, just knowing you know people are praying for your Family, and that you are taking care of yourself and being cared for, is all I need. With the medical stresses and the special times you have with your Babies, and recovering from the c-section are very hard. I ask God that you have little worries, beyond that, and that you will have the
ReplyDeleteGrace of God Surround you.
Thanks, Brenda. The C-section recovery has been amazingly easy and fast. The 2nd day I felt like I would never walk again, but I know from my ectopic rupture that walking makes it feel better, not worse. :) God's grace is very evident; thanks for praying!

Praying for your family each day.
