First day of school! Settling into North Carolina

Well, I might have been a bit nervous about sending these quints to all-day kindergarten, but they sailed through with flying colors! They all love it and act like it's no big deal. The biggest treat is riding the bus. They flew across the Pacific, traveled nearly 9000 miles across the USA, but the BUS is the most exciting mode of transportation they've had!

Marcie said, "Mommy, school was too much fun! Only I got a little bit tired of coloring." David said, "Mom, I really love school!" to which Gracie chimed in, "Me too!" Seth said school was "happy." Will said "I wasn't good at school today," which turned out to mean he hadn't felt good (he had a cough). He did very well and got lots of points for good behavior, to my relief!

Only David and Gracie are together in class. The others each have their own teacher. Gracie tried to sit next to Marcie during lunch, but David and their teacher promptly told her that she needed to sit with her own class. Neither girl seemed concerned about it. I wonder if they're enjoying the space from each other?

Will is so goofy in this photo, and David is doing his fake posed smile. He was happy, really!

On the way to school!

Settling in: two-and-a-half Costco cartloads of food and household supplies!

We take the kids swimming everyday. The pool is just across from our house. Marcie is swimming like a fish in the deep end and the other kids are learning as they go, doing very well.

Grandma and Grandpa helped us move in. I don't know how I would have done it without them! Dad was on kid duty and shopping duty (and IKEA furniture assembly one day); Mom did laundry, ironing, kitchen set-up, and almost all the kids' clothes unpacking. HUGE blessing! (This photo was taken on my friend Katrina's porch; alas, it's not ours!)
Preview of next blog: Flashback to Michigan. Isaac and me goofing off in Aunt Fay's kitchen. Isaac is doing really well at school, although he definitely feels like he doesn't "belong" yet. He really misses his friends in PNG!
