Lord willing, they will be discharging Seth in a couple of hours. We are getting our last bits of teaching and the car seat test done and all the loose ends tied up. He'll be coming home with 4 machines(!): apnea and heart rate monitor, pulse oximeter, feeding pump, and oxygen concentrator. In addition, he's also on 7 medications: 5 through his feeding tube and two inhaled, all at least twice a day. I'm oddly excited about letting my "inner nurse" out in caring for Seth, largely because I won't be pulled in as many directions now that our NICU days - all 170 of them! - will be over. We certainly pray there will be no cause for re-admittance.
We should be leaving at 5:30 or 6 and be on the news tonight at 10:00. We will post the link; it will be Channel 11 (Fort Worth) again, and this time I'll try not to giggle hysterically while quoting Philippians 4:13. ;)
Love and gratitude,
Carrie
This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Wonderful news! We are SO looking forward to that first picture with all six children in one shot!!! We have been praying for this day, and will continue to pray daily for all of you, especially Seth. You go right ahead and giggle, Carrie - that's the way Philippians 4 is SUPPOSED to make you feel!
ReplyDeletePraise God from whom all blessings flow!!! Our God is an awesome God!!! I can't wait to let my class know on Monday...they will be so excited.
ReplyDeleteThrilled with you. I would say that he has passed the carseat test. He looks so normal an ready to go.

Hooray! How very exciting!
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful to hear this news. It's been a long time coming but praise the Lord, the day is finally here. May Seth and all of you settle well into new routines and for him a totally new environment and many new people. I can't wait until March 1st so that I can meet Seth and see the rest of the babies and their family again.
ReplyDeleteLove to all,
Gail Boemker
Your precious family has been in my prayers for many weeks. This is such a graceful answer to prayer. May God the Father, Jesus the son , and the Holy Spirit be with all of your dear family as you settle into the "new normal". Praise oFather, Son and Holy Ghost.
ReplyDeleteI have been praying for you and your family since I heard about you on our local Christian radio station (WBGL in Champaign, Illinois), which was right after the babies were born. What a blessing and praise that your family is complete now!! My mother is on oxygen 24/7, and she also had a feeding tube and trach. So, I understand that it can be a bit ovewhelming at first, but you will settle in to a good routine and things will be fine. I look forward to seeing pictures of Seth at home.
