Hi all,
I wish I could give good news, but aside from some weight gain and his oxygen supplementation need remaining below 60% (for which we thank God) Seth is really struggling. He just doesn't have much reserve of strength or ability to tolerate even being repositioned. I think they have to turn his oxygen up during those times. His carbon dioxide has risen again, despite the higher vent setting he was put on. He is a very sick baby.
Labs, a sonogram of his heart, and an X-ray of his lungs have all been ordered for the morning, hoping, as the nurse put it, to find out SOMETHING for the benefit of Seth.
This is very hard, to say the least, but there is nothing we can do. It's all in God's hands. Seth is His boy. The battle is the LORD's.
Grace had her last dose of medication to close off her PDA. The sonogram in the morning will check if the meds worked or if she needs surgery or more meds. She's a lot feistier after her blood transfusion, thank God!
David, Will, and Grace all gained weight, for which we are truly grateful. Please pray that Marcie will gain, too. She is currently the smallest baby. However, she is also not on any oxygen, so she's doing well there.
Will keep you updated, as soon as we know anything. Thank you for praying. We need it and sense it!
Waiting on Him,
Carrie
P.S. Better day at school today for Isaac! Thanks for praying!

...and praying here in England too. Very moved by your story. I'm a neonatal nurse so I know what you are facing here. May the Lord continue to guide an uphold you.

Keeping you all covered in prayers and believing that God will sustain and care for precious Seth.
ReplyDeleteMany are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him. -Psalm 32:10
Before they call I will answer, while they are yet speaking I will hear. -Isaiah 65:24
You do a wonderful job of keeping us included in your emotional journey with the quintuplets. We pray for you all very regularly and so thankful that you give us specific items to pray for. May God grant you much strength, patience, wisdom and trust during the 'down times' knowing that He is always by your side giving you the strength to face the challenges of each new day. Love to you all and particularly a big hug for Isaac. Matt, Claire and girls.
ReplyDeleteAll praise and glory be to God for each moment Carrie and Gavin share with their five babies. God has surely wrapped these, His children, in His blanket of love and care. Born three months early and living these three weeks, so many moments He has given us to glorify His work in their lives.
ReplyDeleteAs babies our earthly fathers took our burdens from us, I pray that Carrie and Gavin will give our Heavenly Father the burden in their hearts of the care of these His babies. Our Heavenly Father knows all the medical statistics of His babies and is guiding the doctors in their care. I pray that Carrie and Gavin may be relieved of this overwhelming burden, and may spent each moment with each of His babies in joy and thanksgiving.
Please Lord lay your hand upon Seth and heal his precious body. Allow him to grow and and have glory in your presence. Help his brothers and sisters and his mother and father to heal, grow, and mature in these trying times.
ReplyDeleteFather, adding my prayers to the many this morning, that You will keep each little quint moving forward, that health scares will lessen and that at the end of this hospital stay all will go home complete and healthy. Please put your hand of healing on each little child, help them to grow and develop as You are the One who has wonderously made them, please sustain them according to Your plan. And, please keep Carrie and Gavin in your care, give them strength to endure and provide them with the support system they will need once the babies come home. And, please bless this day for Isaac, that he might have a great day at school and make wonderful friends. Amen, and thank you for your mercies. NKL
ReplyDeleteI have been praying as well and my FB people as well! Hope to see you soon...I have some diapers for you that I'm collecting.

Praying, rejoicing and crying with you. I was reminded of Romans 12: 15 which my husband used at various times when words didn't seem to have depth. Mourn with those that mourn and weep with those that do. Love you all so much. Judith
ReplyDeleteI think of your babies often through-out the day as I take care of the needs of my five children (not quintuplets). I will continue to pray and ask God for His healing for Seth and for His continued care of your little ones. Blessings to your family.
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to tell you how much your faith continues to inspire me daily. Continue believing and praying as God will truly continue to bless your family. Though I don't know you guys personally, I check in every day to see how those precious little ones doing. I pray for their well being and also for Issac.
ReplyDeletePraying for darling Seth with a tearful heart. So thankful for your testimony of God, our Father, Who knows every detail and cares so much!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that little Seth is so sick. :( Your journal brought me to tears... and my heart hurts for you! You are right, Seth is in God's hands and there is nothing we can do but to pray-- which I will do! I pray that God would give you and Gavin strength, energy, hope and peace during these difficult days. Praying and hoping for Seth's healing! He's such a cute little guy!

You don't know me, but I found your blog via a story on either cnn.com or msn.com. I've been reading your updates daily and praying for you every moment I get a chance. My heart breaks for you, watching your babies struggle. My son had to be under UV lights for 2 days when he was first born due to jaundice, and I could barely handle that, so I know you must be the strongest mommy and daddy out there. God has certainly given you some strength. I will continue praying for all of your children, especially Seth.
ReplyDeleteGavin and Carrie, I pray for your hearts, and the precious love you have for all your Children, I pray that God will continue to surround you with his Grace, and Peace as He carries you and your hearts with him on this journey...Your Faith,
ReplyDeleteStrength and Willingness to open your lives and most precious story, and Isaac, and the special gift of your Babies continues to touch the hearts and witness to thousands of people around the world... Gavin 'n Carrie,
ReplyDeletePraying for each one of you during this time! God can certainly heal little Seth, because I have witnessed that during my life. A couple days ago I came across this saying,
"The opposite of FEAR is FAITH." Author Unknown

God's Girl,
Jillian R.
