Very brief update, Tues. night, Aug. 14

Thanks for praying for Marcie Jane's PICC line insertion (through her leg). Disappointingly, it was unsuccessful. As her nurse said tonight, pray that her IV continues to function well. Maybe they will try to keep using IVs, maybe she'll end up needing the broviac. We pray for the former, but know God is God. He blessed us with an hour-and-a-half of getting to hold her today, skin to skin on my chest. SO precious! Meanwhile, Gavin did a quick phone interview live with CNN outside the NICU. I was perfectly content to stay where I was. :)

All babies are doing well tonight, thank God and you, too, for carrying them and us to Him.

Love and gratitude,
Carrie

  1. I don't know any of you, but I saw your story. Bless all of your children, and I hope you can bring them all home healthy and safe soon.

  2. My thoughts are with you all. My first child was a 26 week preemie, and he did not make it. We had another at 22 weeks who did not as well. I know how terrified you are and how you live hour to hour, day to day. It is very intense. I have three beautiful kids now, 17, 8 and 5. The 8 year old is autistic, but I am so intensely grateful for that...because I have her. I know how hard this is, to see those tiny little loves with tape and needles...but I wish for the very very best for you both.

  3. Please pray for Gracie. She's barely mentioned for prayers, but is the tiniest baby of all at a pound and a half...

  4. Lifting you all up in prayer. God is God, as you said - and He loves each of you so much! Every second is a gift - and I know you treasure it.

Poor little Gracie and the sticks! Ouch! Broviacs can collapse their veins, so will pray that whichever way is the best for her is what will continue to work!

May His peace, that passes ALL understanding, be with you through all of this, and those babies thrive under His, and your, care. God Bless!!

  6. Praying that God will work His miracles, using the doctors if He so designs, and that all procedures will be a success and the little ones will rebound quickly. Our son was born at 26 weeks and stayed 10 weeks in the hospital, and we found that it was so important to be very involved with his care. Not all babies are the same and a blanket way of care cannot be relied upon. He also did not digest well and this was because he could not tolerate the iron in the formula - it was 2 weeks before the docs would even listen to this possibility (I don't tolerate iron well) and once the formula was switched he started digesting and gaining weight almost immediately. (He also did not do well on a vent - once the doc removed at my request, he blood oxygen levels skyrocketed.) So my prayer for you is that you are able to be closely involved in their care and the doctors will address your concerns with thought and compassion. God Bless you all.

  7. Praying for all of you today, even the "big" boy Will! Thanks for the update on Marcie Jane. We love all of your babies and love knowing just how to pray each day for them. Emma is praying for her friend Isaac!

  8. May you all be able to ignore and detach from the "feeding frenzy" of the media and public - even well wishers, which will exhaust you. Keep your eyes on the Lord and your focus on your children (all six of them)and your arms around each other. May God surround you with peace.

  9. Hey Gavin and Carrie: We were so excited to hear about the babies and to see the pictures of your beautiful family. We will continue to pray for their health and for your sanity (LOL). Our kids are known as great "prayer warriors" in our community, so know that they pray for you every night. We miss you guys and would love to see you before you return to the mission field. 10. I wanted you to know that I am keeping you and your family in my daily thoughts and prayers. I had triplets at 30 weeks. They were in the NICU for 2 months. It is not an easy path but take it day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, second by second. I hope and pray for the best. God bless!

  12. My daughter was born at 28 weeks weighing 2 lbs last April due to preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome and spent 75 days in the NICU. It is a very long journey which no one except preemie parents can understand and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. All you can do it take it day by day and some days minute by minute. That being said our daughter while tiny is thriving. She taught us to believe in miracles and I hope and pray your babies do the same for you.

  13. Thank-you for sharing with us your story about this special Gift God has given you...and thanks for letting us pray for you. I just heard about your story a week ago and God has put You on my heart to pray for you. I'm not in your situation, but I know how a Father can feel so helpless at times seeing his wife and children so emotional, and hurting. I know how a Child can feel confused and upset when they see their Mother upset,,,,,And Especially how a Mother's Heart and Bond with her child can be SO powerful, and so indescribable strong. My Prayer for all of you to to be surrounded By God's Love and for Peace, and
Protection and Healing for the Babies, so he can carryout his Plan for each of the 8 of you.....I am reminded in the Bible that when Mary said yes to God, it was a joyful time, but she then Joesph had to take one minute at a time not knowing what God Plan was and how it was to be carried out,,,, God Bless all of you, and know you have my Prayers every day!
