Day by day and with each passing moment . . .

That lovely old hymn has come to mind many times over the past several months and has special meaning today. Friends of ours with preemie twins also clung to the truth in the lyrics.

When I called tonight, Seth's carbon dioxide level was the lowest it's been, PRAISE GOD, and they were going to wean him one setting on the ventilator. PLEASE PRAY he tolerates the weaning well and does not relapse. We hope and pray, believing God is more than able, that this is the beginning of an amazing work in Seth's body.

The three "oldest" babies have had a great night with no dropped heart rates! We praise God for that, too. Glad we mentioned that as a specific item for prayer.

Gracie is still on 28 percent oxygen and actually lost some weight tonight. Please pray for her to gain strength and ability to breathe without assistance.

Thank you so much for all the comments and verses/promises some of you have left tonight. You can believe that we have been reciting some of them to ourselves for months and multiple times again today! I love the Psalm. Thanks, Francis!

Isaac was happy and peaceful at bedtime tonight. Thank you for praying for him too.

We now have permission to cradle the two ventilated babies in our arm while they are still in the isolette. The top will be raised up so we can interact more with them. Thank God for blessings like that!

Please continue to stand with us in prayer,
Carrie

P.S. thank you for all the encouraging notes and thoughtful gifts!

  1. Oh, I praise God. I have been in continuous prayer for these weeks that you would be able to hold Seth and Gracie. I so believe that God's love through the mother's touch is the most powerful healing strength. I will be in continuous prayer that in God's miraculous timing, they will cuddle on your chest and again feel your heart beating and your chest breathing.

  3. I check your blog twice a day and pray for your entire family constantly. Your faith and love of your children is inspirational. I look forward to the day(s) when you bring all five gorgeous gifts from God home from the hospital!

  4. Just also read last night's not so joyful update and am praying that these little ones have a much better day, start on an upward swing with no more backsliding, and that Isaac is able to enjoy school and life in general, free from fear and distress over his little sibs. Praising God for His mercies and asking that He heap a bunch on you today. NKL

  5. Our twin boys had problems with heart rate drops in the nicu. And i would get so discouraged. The nurses would remind me that this was normal for their gestation (34 weeks) and that there would come a day (and like a light switch) they would no longer face this challenge. They were right. But it wasn't any easier at the time. My 6 mo boys and I pray together for you many times throughout the day. And I often find that I can't sleep at night because I am praying for your family. When I can't sleep I know it is the lord calling me to pray for you. Thank you for sharing your needs with us.

We live just over in FW. And have passed your blog info on to our church family to join in praying.

    God bless

  6. I too, check the blog daily and pray for all but specifically the needs of the little one or ones of that day. What a blessing to be able to pray and see God's working and blessings on them. Marge in Illinois

  8. Praying for Isaac in school today. I remember my experience in a new school when I was about his age. Stress is hard for kids to process. Shared your story with some friends who have a son of a similar age - they're going to have their kids pray for Isaac and the babies.

  9. Praise God for the answers to prayers last night....May the Mighty God continue the healing of these Babies, day by day So Mom And Dad may hold them all in their arms........I have always told my children when things get overwhelming, to keep saying "God I Don"t Understand but I Believe"...It has helped so often......I'm not a Doctor or nurse, but I've heard of preemies of twins or more improve, vital signs if they can be physically together for short times...maybe the babies are still so fragile.....anyway Prayers from Dayton Ohio......Does anyone know a couple of Isaac's favorite colors??

  10. Looks like things are moving right along here!

For those "sobering" days when things don't look good, it helps to remember that things can change, but God never changes.
When my beloved fiance' developed cancer, the Lord spoke quietly in my thoughts: "Nothing has changed. I am still in this. Get your eyes off the cancer, and onto Me." So, I just continued to love my fiance' the same as BEFORE we knew about the cancer!
It is so human for our emotions to elevate and dip with the circumstances. But there was such truth in what God spoke into my spirit.
He is here every step of the way. Nothing catches Him by surprise. Just keep looking up to Him, and you will be amazed at what He's going to do! :)

  11. So thankful for any good news you receive and share. I can't even start to imagine the varied emotions that you must experience on any given day/hour. As always, you're in my prayers. I trust that Isaac is having a good day today.

    Blessings.

  12. I let the coffee club know how to pray for the Quints. IT is the group that helps prepare things for the Children's programs. I have felt that my prayers have been more constant since I got yesterdays update.
May Isaac find that one special friend soon. He is such a champ! !

  13. I have been praying for you since my friend Katrina posted this on facebook a few months back. Our little baby girl Avery was born 14 weeks early this past Christmas so we have been down the NICU road ahead of you!! She was there 128 days...definitely can relate to those bad phone calls of weight loss, heart rate drops, bad blood gas results, needing transfusions, not tolerating feeds, etc. I will be praying that you all will stay strong in your faith and know that so many around the world are lifting you up to the Lord!

  14. I enjoy reading the updates and seeing the pictures of the 5 miracles. I keep praying. Sure hope you can have more holding and touching them soon. As much skin to skin contact the better!
God's blessing on you 8 (and your parents, Carrie).
